Cat Rock’s name is the result of common wildcat sightings in the 1700s. My great-grandparents designed their weekend home as a rugged, but grand, stone mansion on the summit of Cat Rock and named the castle after the hilltop. I am proud that the 100-acre estate remains in our family and my great-great-great-grandfather first purchased the land over 150 years ago. Now my father and I are working hard to historically preserve the mansion.
The hilltop estate offers and unparalleled outdoor event venue. The setting affords natural woodlands, ancient pathways, flower gardens, grassy lawns and stunning panoramic views of the Hudson River and Highlands from the New York City Skyline to the Catskill Mountains with the grand old house as the backdrop.
